For those of us who have seen the tale of two cities unfold in front of us, Sidney Carton’s sacrifice may be the picture of true love. For some others it might be the macabre tale of Romeo and Juliet ad for some others it might mean something totally different. Perceptions vary but everyone simply “knows” what true love is or them.
My true love is…… is…well its tandoori chicken! Some people talk about love at first sight being infatuation. For me, love at first sight, first smell, and of course first taste was definitely not infatuation. If it was then that infatuation has stayed in my heart, grown and flourished (fed by repeated indulgences), and isn’t that what true love is all about?
True love they say, does not crave its objective, it just exists, permeates the being with a tranquil joy. That is one point I deeply disagree on with them. My love craves its object. If you truly love someone don’t you want to be with them? So, I feel deeply justified in wanting to be with the culinary delight which is my true love, and to make things better, tandoori chicken does permeate my being with a tranquil joy.
All right, all right, I know what you are going to say. In true love you don’t devour the object of your love. I am still going to differ. Widen your perspective readers, I recommend the Wikipedia article on spider reproduction to you. The female spider does eat its partner for nourishment after the proverbial “honeymoon is over”.
