GANDHIGIRI....IN TODAY'S WORLD????

I read the topic……….GANDHIRGIRI……… the neologism created by the very famous movie…. Lage raho munna bhai…and the thought strikes my brain. What does that term mean? Recalled the movie, compared it with the dusty knowledge of the chapters I had read in my history books, and then got my answer. It is a way of life which encapsulates all the ideas as non-violence and those of idealism in all the practical aspects of life.

Though the ideas are noble, yet for today’s life impractical.

At a point of time in the history of this world, men dressed in animal hides ran after wild animals with nothing but a piece of sharpened atone or wood they called their weapons, and all this just to hunt them to appease the hunger of themselves and that of their loved ones. In that scenario, under the situation it was useful and necessary, but would you say the same for today?

Is running after wild animals with a sharpened stone in hand at all practical? Yeah sure!

People will do nothing but laugh at you, call you a maniac!

Coming out of this scenario, enter into the life today. A busy street and there you go, immaculately dressed, ready to attend the most crucial meeting of your life, and there comes a speeding car, which passes you only after splashing mud on your clean and well ironed dress. What would you do? How would you react? Remain cool and calm, adjust with the situation, console yourself with the words that what god wanted happened or would you prefer calling the driver names and shout at him. Of course the second option. This is how the world today works.

It has been years after the great man died. What he said and suggested might have held good for the time he existed but the world and especially India has been growing and changing at a pace he never predicted. And with these changes in the country, the changes that have occurred in human nature is obvious.

Do you think that a good dead done on your part, some honesty shown on your part will always reward you? The one word answer to this question is a big NO! in this competitive world people are waiting for you to falter in one step so that they could milk what they would call your weakness.

So, it is my belief that though the ideals of GANDHIGIRI must have held good in the past but has almost no significance in the fast and competitive world that we live in today!
